Work package number 1: Heritage in urban regeneration

  • Beneficiary/Partner Organisation short names: METU, UNEW, PKU, RUG, WHU, XAUAT
  • Objectives: This work package will consider and exemplify the variety of roles that heritage has been called upon to play in the physical regeneration of neighbourhoods, their economic revitalisation and consequent demographic and social change. This will be treated within the wider processes and objectives of local urban spatial planning.

Work package number 2: Spatial planning, urban design and heritage

  • Beneficiary/Partner Organisation short names: CNR, METU, UNEW, PKU, RUG, WHU, XAUAT
  • Objectives: This work package will consider the role of the conservation and management of heritage as part of wider processes of spatial planning, including design-led approaches.

Work package number 3: Heritage, Activity, Place

  • Objectives: This work package will consider on the one hand the role heritage performs for different urban activities and on the other how the spatiality of the city, and its different urban spaces, may utilise heritage in different ways.

Work package number 4: Management of urban heritage tourism

  • Beneficiary/Partner Organisation short names: CNR, MIL, UNEW, PKU, RUG, WHU, XAUAT
  • Objectives: This work package will consider both conceptual ideas and management tools for urban heritage tourism. This will include the role of monitoring urban heritage tourism for the better management of historic centres and will promote urban enhancement policies through documentation and digital classification

Work package number 5: Methodologies of investigation and decision-making

  • Beneficiary/Partner Organisation short names: CNR, METU, PKU, UNEW, RUG, WHU, XAUAT
  • Objectives: This cross-cutting work package will critically examine both methodologies of research investigation pertinent to the other work packages and the linked but distinct subject of methodologies that support decision-making in the planning and management of heritage.

Work package number 6: Management and Dissemination of Project

  • Beneficiary/Partner Organisation short names: CNR, METU, MIL, UNEW, PKU, RUG, WHU, XAUAT
  • Objectives: To provide leadership to and management of the project, through ensuring deliverables and dissemination of these occur in appropriate ways. To provide guidance and support for participating researchers. To ensure network sustainability beyond the end of the project.
